All About Wine

Wine is more than just a beverage; it is a journey through history, culture, and geography. From the sun-drenched vineyards of Napa Valley to the ancient wine regions of Bordeaux, each bottle tells a unique story. The art of winemaking has been perfected over centuries, with passionate vintners carefully selecting the best grapes and employing traditional techniques to create their masterpieces. As you explore the world of wine, you'll discover the distinct characteristics that different regions impart to their wines, making each sip a new adventure.

Understanding wine involves more than just tasting; it requires an appreciation of the intricate process that transforms grapes into this beloved drink. The terroir, which includes the soil, climate, and topography, plays a crucial role in shaping the flavor profile of a wine. Winemakers must also decide on the best time to harvest their grapes, as well as the fermentation and aging processes that will enhance the wine's characteristics. Whether you prefer a robust red or a crisp white, the complexity and dedication involved in winemaking are what make each glass so special.

Wine tasting is an experience that engages all the senses. The sight of a wine's color can provide hints about its age and varietal, while the aroma offers a preview of the flavors to come. When you take that first sip, the taste and texture reveal the wine's true essence, a culmination of the grape's journey from vine to bottle. Pairing wine with food can elevate both the drink and the meal, creating harmonious combinations that delight the palate.

Yanık Ülke

Vineyards bear the marks of a long history, a rich heritage, and meticulous labor. These vineyards not only grow grapes; they also reflect the character of each region. Climate and soil determine the personality of a vineyard, and this character shapes the unique qualities of the wines.

Have you ever heard of the land of Katakekaumene? This region is covered with ash on the surface of its soil, and everything appears pitch black as if burned by fire.

Katakekaumene tells a story that carries the deep marks of the past and the hopes of the future.

Two thousand years ago, the great ancient geographer and philosopher Strabo referred to this area in his book ‘Geographika’ as ‘Katakekaumene,’in other words “Yanık Ülke” (“Burnt Country” ), for its coal-black basalt Stones.

Today, the Akçura family, owners of the Anemon hotels, continues to preserve this historical heritage through wine production. The vineyards of the Yanık Ülke ( Burnt Land ) are located on the slopes of Divlit Volcano, at an altitude of 924 meters above sea level, ideal for cultivating high-quality grapes. These lands resemble the Etna Volcano region on the island of Sicily in Italy, which imparts a unique character to the grapes.

The wines of the Yanık Ülke ( Burnt Land) are shaped by their unique flavor profiles, enhanced by the volcanic soils. The grapes develop rich and complex aromas from the minerals they absorb from these lands. For wine lovers, the unique wines of the Yanık Ülke ( Burnt Land) offer an unforgettable experience in both taste and history.

The grapes grown here are: Whites grapes : Muscat, Chardonnay, Viognier, Catarratto, Gewürztraminer, Narince. Reds grapes : Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Nerello Cappuccio, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Nerello Mascalese, Petit Verdot, Boğazkere, Öküzgözü.
